December 2015

20 December 2015

Well it's been a while since we have posted anything here and as the month and our time here at Bruce Rock nears an end we thought it was time to update you on our adventure.

Wheat Stack

Standing next to about 3,000 tonnes of wheat (1/4 of the it's capacity) in the smaller 'A' Type Storage Shed (it's a lot fuller now :)

A Type Gantry

Atop the gantry as the wheat, having been tipped into the pit, transported up the elevator and along the belt, falls from the tripper onto the stack.

Sunset

At the end of the days work we sit and enjoy a beer or two discussing the days events and soaking in a sunset like this.

So with only two farmers still harvesting (intending to finish by Christmas) our time and work here at Bruce Rock (with 80,000 tonnes in the bin) will end and we will be heading back to Perth on Christmas Eve to spend Christmas with the family.

We have been asked to come back to help with the clean up starting on the 4th of January and then we will be back on the road for a bit(we think). We have also been asked if we were willing to assist with the out loading in early (Feb/March) 2016, and so having enjoyed ourselves here in Bruce Rock we have said that we would. We may or may not come back to Bruce Rock (but we would prefer it to be) as the work could be anywhere in Zone 5 (see map here). And that will well and truly be enough work for this financial year, so it will be time to go an spend the earnings.

Mark Twain once said "...years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do that by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - and so we will.
